Nine months of writing, and now editing my first draft. I will never stop being proud of how far I’ve come, and I will never get over the feeling of placing the last word on the page. Thank you for coming and thank you for supporting me.

I have included my website in this post and I hope you all decide to stay, in the words of an incredible poet and writer. I will say it for him,

I am the master of my fate, I am the captain of my soul.

Invictus.

About the Author

And a poem for fun — Thank you again.

Text within this block will maintain its original spacing when published
When I was seven, I wanted to be a florist
I wanted to give my mother bouquets
Tiger lilies and roses all day.

When I was ten I wanted to be a doctor,
Heal the wounds of my father
Soothe him with hope that I could change him.

When I was twelve I wanted to be a writer,
My thoughts and feelings were something-
I could be proud of in the daylight.

When I was eighteen I left for the Army,
I could learn to fight the demons that tore for my favor.
I left to stay alive,
I left to fight wars for others,
Wars that I never saw in fruition.

Now I reflect on letters I wrote home,
Wondering how anyone let that child believe
Her only value was what she could do for others.

I only use my hands to plant seeds of my thoughts in pages for myself.
Casting favor in my corner,
When no one else could.
